What:Missing You Concert
When:March 17, 2007
Where:Araneta Colesium
The doors opened at 7pm. I was seated in 113E. I had a good view of the stage and the teleprompter because I was seated in the right side facing the stage. Around half past 8pm a member of the audience needed medical help so there was a small comotion. Karlyn Bayot and her mom were seated 5 seats behind us. The show finally started at around 9pm.
The band opened with Queen of The Night instrumental. There was a short video showing Lani on stage with the vintage microphone, sexy black gown, eye-catching necklace and earings. The widescreen opened revealing Lani in a gray gown. After singing A Song For You, Lani did a "quick" costume change on stage with the dancers around her. The dancers then revealed Lani wearing this sexy, gold, ala-beyonce costume.
She started doing a Beyonce Medley complete with all the dance moves. I remember back then, she never danced during her performances, or even if she did it wasn't anything like last night. After the number, she greeted the audience. She asked who were the first timers and who also watched her past shows in the big dome. She then did an up-beat version of Loving You.
She then did a "quick" change backstage while there was a short video or flash on the screen, instrumental courtesy of the band, and dance interpretation by the hotlegs. Lani entered with this pink fluffy cloak, singing a cut from her album entitled These Dreams. After the number, she did a short intoduction and sang one of her most famous singles, Bukas Nalang Kita Mamahalin.
Again she had a "quick" costume change while there were Dreamgirls clips on the screen. She entered the stage wearing a blue halter gown. Beside her were Frenchie and Mau. They did a Dreamgirls Medley with all the choreography. After the number, Lani left the stage. The two singers did a vocal showdown while Lani changes her costume, this time it's not that quick.
Lani came back with a blue, ala-harry-potter-cloak-like gown. She sang Never My Love and Very Special Love with video presentation showing clips of her kids, Louven and Lian. Louven, 16 was born the same year I was but I am younger by months. According to many people, I look like Lian, 13 and in some shots, I think I really do(wheheheh).
After that number she did a Divas in Vegas Medley. She did her costume change on stage behind four movable mirrors. She first did Tina Turner, with the wig, the mini, sleeve-less dress, and the open legs, lock-jaw imporsonation. Then, she did Diana Ross, with the curly wig, purple gown, and bells palsy/lock-jaw impersonation. Then she did Celine Dion, with the white blouse, black suspenders, blonde wig, and the powerful voice. Lastly, she did her famous Whitney Houston impersonation with the wig and the funny movements. We were laughing our heads off through out the whole number. She then changed back into her blue gown.
She sang You Don't Have To Say You Love Me with a twist. She changed some of the lyrics. In between the verses, she thanked all her sponsors. After the number, she sang her famous songs: Isang Ulit Man Lang, Tunay na Mahal, and Tila. After her songs, she introduced Gary V.
Gary sang an up-beat song with the hotlegs. Lani then entered wearing capri pants, rubber shoes, denim bolero, and white tank top saying "diva daw". She did a hiphop number with Gary, with all the dancing. After the number, Lani left Gary on the stage. Gary sang his song, Sana Maulit Muli.
Lani came back wearing a white wedding gown with a tiara like headress. She sang Memories, in italian(if i'm not mistaken). She received standing ovation after that awesome number. She then did a Barbra Streisand Medley. After that she did Have I Told You Lately That I Love You and a Rama At Sita Song.
For the encore, she wore a pink venus style gown. She did: Miss You Like Crazy, I Never Know Love Like This Before, an up-beat version of Through The Fire, and Come in From the Rain.
The show ended around 12pm. Some of the celebrities who watched are Vina Morales, Eric Santos, Frenchie Dy, Jimmy(from Star in a Million), Ida and Ronnie Henares.
The whole production was amazing. I never felt that good before. I miss watching Lani perform. Like what she said, we all don't know when she'll be having a show here in the Philippines again. I will definately miss Lani. I hope to watch her again in the future.
